Mapping are usually used to have some static contents served directly by web server instead of application server.

Also if you are using another php, python, perl or other language application that is to be served by web server only you need to exclude its path from passing to application server.

By default everything except '/cpanel' and '/webmail' is mapped from webserver to your application server using either mod_jk or mod_proxy_ajp.

At any time you can change the mappings for your primary and additional domain via JVM control panel JVMCP.

You can also change mapping method or restore defaults with the panel.
