Do I use localhost or remotemysqlhost for my mysql connection ?

For Java hosting we strongly recommend using 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1' in JDBC string. This improves your application portability and maximizes database connection speed. You can view whether your account is using localhost or remotemysql host in your cPanel account. Click on 'phpMyAdmin', in the 'Datebases' menu. Your database host will be displayed on the next screen after Server. It will be listed as localhost or remotemysql host. Note that by default you can only connect to local MySQL server from local applications. You can allow remote connections in cPanel if needed.
